This course covers rules and procedures for procedural approach control in TMA’s. Students will use the radar simulator in Non-RADAR display mode to develop skills and techniques required for procedural approach control. Each student will have simulation exercises of one-to-one instruction, including briefs and debriefs. Exercises are designed to give students a step-by-step learning curve that progresses from simple to complex traffic scenarios in the approach phase of the flight. On successful completion of the course, the participant will have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to undertake On Job Training at an approach control unit (non-surveillance) under the supervision of a licensed Approach ATCO, for the issue of an approach non-surveillance rating.
