Air Traffic Control
Air Traffic Control Department (ATC) at the Qatar Aeronautical Academy provides training for students who wish to pursue a career in air traffic control. As a member of ICAO Trainer Plus, all courses provided by the ATC Department follow criteria set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Furthermore, the courses are regulated and approved by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA). Upon successful completion of the selected course, students are awarded with a Academy Level National Diploma in Air Traffic Control.
The Air Traffic Control Department utilises many facilities for training purposes, including a State-of-the-Art simulator equipped to accommodate training for Tower and Approach procedures. The 3-D Control Simulator is used as an integral part of the Aerodrome Control course that is based upon ICAO 052 requirements. The course is designed to introduce students to air traffic control procedures, ICAO and its associated regulations covering the following subjects, air traffic management, navigation, meteorology, aviation law, aeronautical information services, human factors, aircrafts, aerodromes and equipment and systems. Having completed the course, the student is qualified to start On Job Training in a live ATC operational environment.
The classrooms are equipped with Wireless Internet Connection and many multimedia facilities. Computer laboratories equipped for practical applications of course material are also available to the students along with a Learning Management System (LMS) with online learning resources.
