Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS)
This course is recommended for representatives from civil aviation authorities with responsibilities regarding the implementation of State safety programmes, and the implementation and/or oversight of safety management systems, in the areas of aircraft operations, air traffic services, maintenance of aircraft and aerodrome operations. At the end of the course the learners should be able to explain safety management fundamentals and relate it to their tasks, describe the key features of an SMS, the importance of system description and gap analysis, Illustrate the relationship between SMS and QMS, explain the fundamentals of hazards, hazard identification and risk management, describe the safety management requirements in ICAO Annex 19, including the relationship between the State Safety Program and an SMS, create a basic SMS implementation plan or improve an existing one, appreciate implementation of a State Safety Programme (SSP) in compliance with the relevant ICAO SARPs, including a harmonized regulatory framework for the oversight of product and service providers’ SMS, implement Acceptable Level of Safety (ALoS) and ALoS Performance (ALoSP) as provided for by the SSP, appreciate the functions performed by State in implementing the SSP and the applicable legislation, regulations, policies and directives to support the safe and efficient delivery of aviation products and services, appreciate the need to establish and maintain a safety database that can be used to support a safety data analysis
